FUNERAL ANNOUNCEMENT Service for Bishop Ronald M. Cunningham

The funeral service for Bishop Ronald M. Cunningham, the 53rd Bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, will be on Friday, June 12, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at the Cedar Crest Cathedral CME

Church, 1616 E. Illinois Avenue, Dallas, Texas  75216.             Bishop Cunningham died Tuesday, June 2, 2020.             Because of coronavirus related health regulations in Dallas County, in-person attendance is limited to the Cunningham family, service participants, invited guests, and persons producing the livestream.  Only those authorized persons will be admitted into the Cedar Crest Cathedral facility.  All others are asked to attend the service virtually.             Before planning or making travel arrangements, persons should contact Pastor Van C. Williams [at 214-376-2601] to confirm their status as an authorized attendee.             Persons wishing to view the service via live streaming should use the following web address: www.8thdistrictcme.tv.

The stream is to begin at least 30 minutes before the actual service begins so that a slideshow of photos, etc., that the family might desire can be seen. Bishop Cunningham was elected bishop in 2002 in Atlanta, Georgia, and retired in 2010 in Mobile, Alabama.  He served the Tenth and Eighth Episcopal Districts before retiring.  Then, In March 2011, he was recalled to serve the Eleventh Episcopal District until the 2014 General Conference. Prior to his election, he had served 16 years as General Secretary of the Department of Christian Education, and had been professor at Lane College and pastor of several congregations.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. (“Lady”) Clarice Cunningham; a daughter, Ms. Bridgette Cunningham; and a son, Ronald M.
