Dear CME Family,
News came early this morning that Bishop Godwin Thompson Umoette, the 60th bishop of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and the presiding bishop of the Tenth Episcopal District, has succumbed to his sickness in Nigeria and has transitioned from this earthly life.
Please remember in your prayers Mrs. Elizabeth Godwin Umoette, as well as his children and other family members. May they be blessed in Jesus' name. Amen!
Many of you have been praying for his healing and wholeness; so was I. We had many hopeful words and signs from his doctors and close family, but, in the end, life and death are in the hands of God. We trust Bishop Umoette to God's eternal care.
Already, three of our bishops had committed and planned entry into Nigeria in March to hold the several Annual Conferences Bishop Umoette had planned for this present season. Bishops Reddick and Walker and Carter had each committed to holding the annual conferences in his place and had expected to be present with him in some way.
May God bless the people of the Tenth Episcopal District, and may God bless the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
Sincerely,
+ Senior Bishop Lawrence Reddick
