Dear Missionaries, CME Members and Friends,

The Women's Missionary Council’s Executive Board 2021 Meeting will be held February 24-25, 2021. This will be a virtual meeting facilitated by Zoom and hosted by Bishop Paul A.G. Stewart. Sr. and Mrs. Earline Stewart, and the members of the Ninth Episcopal District.

Join the Women's Missionary Council as we celebrate 102 years of ministry in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church! We are excited about our first virtual meeting and we look forward to missionaries providing stewardship reports abut the great work underway in our Connectional church. Indeed we are staying connected during this COVID-19 period and our work continues!

Additional information about the Executive Board 2021 Meeting will be forthcoming and sent to our connectional members via email, and posted at the Women's Missionary Council Web site <https://cmewmc.org> and on social media outlets.

We look forward to your participation at this virtual meeting. Please pray for the success of the Executive Board 2021 Meeting and the Women’s Missionary Council as we continue to serve Jesus Christ and the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in this present age.

Memphis, TN – Bishop Henry M. Williamson, Sr. and West Tennessee Region of the First Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (CME) will honor Veterans of the Memphis area with a Thanksgiving $100 Gift Card.

On Wednesday, November 11, 2020 (Veterans Day) the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will give 100 Veterans a $100 Gift Card from the Memphis Superlo Store, located at 2269 Lamar Avenue, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Store Manager Sherman Guy and Bishop Henry M. Williamson, Sr. will give the cards to Veterans with proper identification and wearing a mask. He will be assisted by Presiding Elder Bethel L. Harris, Jr., Presiding Elder Peris J. Lester, I, Coordinator Reverend Willie Ward Jr., along with Mr. Arthur Shelton, Lay Leader of the West Tennessee Region and Mrs. Doris Fox Boyd.

REQUIREMENTS (you must show at least one of the four of the following ID’s): Tennessee Driver License (Must State: I am a Veteran); VA Medical Card; Retirement Card from a branch of military; Separation Papers from a branch of military (VD-214).

The Christian Methodist Episcopal Sharing Jesus Christ Since 1870; Our Mission: Salvation - Education – Liberation. As Matthew 25:35-40 states, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink…”. If I can help somebody then my living shall not be in vain.

The event is being sponsored by the 60 areas CME Churches of Shelby County under the leadership of Bishop Henry M. Williamson, Sr., of the West Tennessee Region.

 
 
 

Dear CME Family,

On November 3, 2020, 100 year old Helen Bookman, cast her vote for the 2020 Presidential Election in Tahoka, Texas, being the oldest to vote in the Lynn County elections. She is less than one month from turning 101 (on December 1st).

Mrs. Bookman is the mother of the late Presiding Elder Andrew Nance of the Northwest Texas Region (formerly) (Lubbock-Amarillo-Wichita Falls/Midland-Abilene Districts) and 8th Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

She is a long time member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church for over 70 years. Helen Bookman is the grandmother of Rev. Jacqueline Nance Cockerham, Pastor  of New Mount Zion C.M.E. Church-New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Mrs. Bookman has 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons, and 1 great-great grandson, and is the mother-in-law of Mrs. Bennie Nance (wife of the late Presiding Elder Andrew Nance).
